About This Performance

The Washboard Union

Celebrating the release of their brand new album WESTERLY, JUNO and 9x Canadian Country Music Association award-winning band The Washboard Union announce their 2024 “Grab the Wheel and Go Tour” which will make 22+ stops across the country with shows in Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. With platinum and gold records and a string of hit songs like “Shot of Glory,” “Country Thunder,” “Dock Rock,” and “I Run On Country” The Washboard Union are one of Canada’s preeminent country bands with a dynamic, one of a kind live show. There are those special nights you’ll talk about for years to come…. Like the night you saw THE WASHBOARD UNION live.

WESTERLY was produced by The Washboard Union, Matt McClure (Lee Brice) and Dave “Dwave” Thomson (Lady A, High Valley) and is a call home to the wild landscapes of the west that have fueled and inspired the band from their beginnings. Sonically, WESTERLY is anthemic, blending gritty country and soaring choruses, underpinned by The Washboard Union’s signature three-part harmonies that have won them fans the world over.

The Washboard Union, composed of step-brothers Aaron GrainChris Duncombe and their best friend David Roberts, have carved their place as one of Canada’s top country bands. Some of their many successes include reaching over 85 million career streams, 380,000 radio spins, one Platinum and four Gold-certified singles and 35+ total award wins. They are three-time consecutive CCMA Group of the Year winners, and remain the only country group to ever win a JUNO Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Most recently, The Washboard Union was nominated for two 2024 CCMA Awards for Group of the Year and Special of the Year for A Washboard Union Christmas.

Kalsey Kulyk

2024 has been a monumental year in the career of Kalsey Kulyk, with the recent release of her brand-new album Outlaw Poetry – a “collection of heartfelt songs” (All Country News). including her new single “Dontcha,” all written or co-written by Kulyk and showcasing her growth as a musician and bold delivery.

“Outlaw Poetry is the album I’ve been dreaming of releasing my whole life,” says Kulyk. “It’s the beginning chapter of really letting my audience in to the whole of who I am as a person, artist and writer. Throughout this record, I really wanted to take the listener on a journey, through the highs and lows and in-betweens.”

No stranger to country music, everything changed for Kulyk last year when she released “Love Me Like an Outlaw.” Kulyk had been sitting on the track for nearly five years, always believing it was special. Trusting her instincts, she finally released it and watched it become the most successful song release of her career. The song has now surpassed 2 million streams and reached the Top 20 at Canadian country radio, staying there for three straight weeks.

The Prairie States

Mixing the old with the new, The Prairie States was born out of a desire to put a fresh touch on a classic design. As eleven time Country Music Alberta Award recipients including the 2018 Rising Star, 2020 Songwriters of the Year, and 2023 Group/Duo Of The Year as well as recent nomination for 2022 CCMA Songwriters of The Year, it’s proof that this Edmonton-based band is moving in the right direction.

Mat Cardinal, Jeff Dick, Mike Nash, Jay Der  and Doc de Groot formed The Prairie States in 2017 and immediately started writing songs for their debut full length album, Lost In The Right Direction. Independently released in June 2018, it was nominated for the CMAB Album Of The Year and included three radio singles, which all broke the top 100 Mediabase Canadian Country Chart. Since then, the band has released seven more radio singles all of which also cracked the top 100.

“Waiting On You,” released in 2022, hit #28 at Canadian Country radio landing them their first Top 30 single. Loaded with infectious melodies and rhythm, the release followed up The Prairie States break-out single “Rebel Phase,” which has over a million global streams and over 2000 spins on Canadian country radio. Their latest release, “Backroad (That 17 Summer),” is like your favorite cassette blasting from the dashboard of an old pickup truck. Driving fast and free with the snarl and twang of classic 90’s country, this next single is about the feeling of reminiscing and reliving the butterfly moments of a past summer love.

To go along with the release of their single, “Low Life,” the band teamed up with Edmonton-based Sea Change Brewing Co. to create a custom branded beer called Low Life Lager. The brewery made 17,000 tall boys of this perfect summer sipper which included a Spotify QR code so the person enjoying the beverage could also “Scan The Can” to instantly hear Low Life.

The band had another two big developments in 2022 that have helped them climb to the next level. They signed a recording contract with Willing Records/Universal Music and an agency deal with Sakamoto Agency. This has helped them get out on the road and WOW crowds with their undeniable live show. In their short time as a band, they’ve shared stages with Aaron Goodvin, The Washboard Union, Jess Moskaluke, as well as Brothers Osborne while kicking off the Big Valley Jamboree.

Ready with a stack of brand new recordings underway and shows booking up, the future looks bold for The Prairies States.
