About This Performance

This star-studded lineup features female-led classic rock bands the Headpins, Lee Aaron and Toronto. See these legendary rockers together in concert February 24th at the Grey Eagle Event Centre!

Headpins are a Canadian rock group founded by Ab Bryant and Brian MacLeod of Chilliwack in collaboration with Vancouver rock singer Denise McCann. McCann left the band at the end of the first year and was replaced by Darby Mills on lead vocals in 1981. Headpins are known for their multi-platinum records and chart-topping hits “Don’t It Make Ya Feel”, “Just One More Time”, and “Feel It (Feel My Body)”. In 2022, Headpins announced the mega-talented Rosa Laricchiuta as the Official New Lead Singer and Front Woman for the 42-years strong Headpins. Rosa is from Montreal, Quebec and is also the lead featured vocalist for the internationally renowned Trans-Siberian Orchestra for more than 5 years.

Lee Aaron. She is one of Canada’s most iconic vocalists, a songwriter, producer, and fearless re-inventor. She was one of the very first women writing and performing hard rock, releasing her first album (The Lee Aaron Project) at the age of only nineteen. Her sophomore release, 1984’s Metal Queen solidified Aaron as a trailblazer for women in rock in the 80’s with the title track – an anthem of feminine empowerment and shout-out against the sexism toward women in that genre – garnering her respect and legions of rock fans around the globe. Seventeen albums into her enduring career, with multiple accolades, including 10 JUNO nominations, CMPA Songwriters, Much Music Video, Music Express, and Toronto Music Awards, she’s still going strong. In 2016 Aaron was honored with a permanent star on the Arts Walk of Fame in her former hometown (Brampton) for her contribution to Canadian Music.

Toronto’s first album, Lookin’ for Trouble, was released in 1980, and lead single “Even The Score” was a minor hit, just missing the Canadian Top 40. Head On (1981) followed, after which Costello and Fox left the band to be replaced by Gary LaLonde (later of Honeymoon Suite) and Barry Connors (later of Coney Hatch). The band was nominated for a Juno in 1981 for “Most Promising Group of the Year”. This sextet recorded Get It on Credit (1982), with lead single “Your Daddy Don’t Know” reaching top 5 in Canada, and hitting No. 77 in the US. It remains their best-known hit. “Your Daddy Don’t Know” was also nominated for a Juno Award in 1983 for Composer of the Year (the song was written by Geoff Iwamoto and Michael Roth). Lalonde was then replaced by Mike Gingrich for 1983’s Girls’ Night Out in 1983. This album also received attention, as did the band’s Greatest Hits album of 1984. In 1984, Holly Woods was nominated for a Juno for “Female Vocalist of the Year”. The current lineup includes Michelle Truman of Always ABBA on lead vocals, Carmela Long of Glass Tiger on backing vocals, Steve Shelski of Coney Hatch on guitar, Tom Lewis of Glass Tiger on bass, Jim Gilmour of Saga on keyboard and Barry Connors on drums.
